A Noir Classic

One of the more iconic noir films created, Kiss Me Deadly combines a slow burn plot with themes of Cold War paranoia and intrigue (unusual for an LA detective film.) The characters are appropriately off-the-wall and Ralph Meeker's Mike Hammer cooly chews the scenery in every chiroscoro scene. The film's ambiguous opening is one of the best openings of all noir or crime films, in my opinion.

This is on my short list of Criterion Collection films to buy - I'm just getting into the noir genre, so I'm now looking forward to it.
