A Subtle and Tense Prison Escape Film

Unlike other prison escape films, A Man Escaped uses hyper-realism to build tension and doesn't overdramatize the events it portrays. The prison escape is simple, not an Ocean's Eleven style elaborate scheme, and it's executed with a realistic unfolding of events. The film manages to portray the claustrophobic feeling of captivity through a combination of subtle character acting, voice over narration, and clever shot construction.
