One of Clooney's Best

Michael Clayton is a film that requires your entire attention. Its involving and intricate plot contains quick detail, doublecrosses, political speak, and other high concept scenes that can be confusing on first viewing. What makes the film work is the commanding performance of Clooney and the supporting stars of Tilda Swinton and Tom Wilkinson, who breathe life into what would otherwise be a very confusing screenplay. The film doesn't overplay its hand, but lets its brand of intrigue unfold naturally, building the tension with each scene. An understated masterwork.
