A Dark Screwball Comedy

For every No Country for Old Men they deliver, the Coens create a Burn After Reading - a cynical, madcap comedy featuring a variety of eccentric characters born out of the screwball comedy genre. The ensemble cast, which features a number of distinguished actors who aren't afraid to get silly, makes the witty and often macabre script work. It isn't for everyone - the plot is sometimes convoluted and the political satire might go over some viewers' heads, but for me, it's a worthy and often very funny addition to the Coen canon.
