The continuation of Eisenstein's epic is less battle-heavy than the first, but focuses on some of the more delicate scenes of intrigue. The film moves away from its "historical documentary" feel to create some real scenes of tension, revenge, and passion, and Eisenstein's knack for creative shot selection and editing supports the story well.
