A Neorealistic Classic.

Unbecoming and subtle at first, Rocco and His Brothers is a film that punches you in the gut by its tragic and devastating conclusion. The film presents a fascinating portrait of a family coming apart at the seams and features a rich layering of themes - including the preservation of family honor, brotherly love and rivalry, and self-sacrifice. Each brother is fully realized and presents a different facet of the overall story and each intersecting storyline is handled with grace and precision by director Visconti.
