The sci-fi sequel doesn't quite have the same originality and futuristic grittiness of the first film, but it still creates an intricate and fascinating dystopian world and then populates it with harrowing action sequences. It's a shame that Edward Furlong's acting career never really (save for American History X?) really took off, as he's a strong foil for Schwarzenegger's laconic cyborg and the film does a few interesting things with the "robot with emotions" themes. Robert Patrick matches Arnold as an equally quiet and deadly cyborg assassin.
