Tim Burton's best film is also his most underrated

Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors of all time. And Johnny Depp happens to be one of my favorite actors of all time. Put these two together and what do you get(aside from creepy remakes like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland)? You get Ed Wood. Ed Wood is Tim Burton's masterpiece and one of my favorite movies of all time. Though it was a box office flop when it was first released, it's garnered much critical praise and numerous awards including an oscar winning performance by Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi.
The movie is a biopic that tells the story of Edward D. Wood Jr. Ed is a filmmaker who despite his passion and love for the art of filmmaking, keeps making shitty movie after shitty movie. The film traces his friendship with Bela Lugosi, his love interests, and the filming of three of his most notoriously awful films.
The acting is great. Johnny Depp gives a truly phenomenal and starmaking performance as the notorious filmmaker. There's not much to say about Martin Landau except for the fact that he's awesome! The rest of the cast is excellent as well.
My filmmaking bible. Check it out.
