Seeing Daniel Craig before his James Bond days is interesting because one gets to see more of his sensitive side. That said, I did not like this movie at all; it was too pretentious, too mixed up in its metaphors, to the point where it leaves its audiences behind. It's hard to care when one does not know what is going on. I get that this is supposed to be an artistic film and that the filmmakers are merely trying to tell a story that had already happened. But there's a way to circumvent cliches and keep the audiences engaged. Perhaps this film will appeal more to artists because they are more knowledgeable regarding Francis Bacon's life. But for the rest of us who are not art buffs, the filmmakers do not give us a chance to belong in that particular artistic sphere, not even for a second. This is not a film for James Bond fans, such as me, that want to experience a good showcase concerning Daniel Craig's acting abilities.
