Striving to be Unoriginal

I usually turned to Filipino films when I'm in the mood for horror movies because they rarely fail to scare me. Unfortunately, this is one of those pictures that strive emulate Japanese and American filmmaking with the likes of "The Ring" and "The Grudge." Suffice to say, this is not a bad movie; it's just I was hoping for a unique moviegoing experience and I didn't get that. There were some nice touches here, such as the twist of the film, but it's not enough for me to ultimately recommend it. The actors did the best they could with the material that they were given. I just wish Filipino filmmakers would stick to what they're good at--which is traditional scares that do not rely on special effects.
