Keanu Reeves is As Stoic As a Rock

I was reluctant to see this film because of its many negative reviews. However, upon seeing it, I really wasn't that bad. Sure, Keanu Reeves is as stoic as a rock but I didn't really notice until I chose to think about it. The tone of the film is uneven because I feel like it tried too hard to get its point across about the inside workings (and the corrupt minds) of authority figures. But when things got intense, it was fascinating and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. There are a plethora of familiar faces here, including Dr. House A.K.A. Hugh Laurie, a guy who is seemingly in every indie romantic comedies--Jay Mohr, and "Prison Break"'s Amaury Nolasco. Surprisingly, I liked Chris Evans a lot in this picture. I didn't hate him like I did in "Fantastic Four." But the script is so badly written; half of the time, I couldn't help but roll my eyes because the lines are so cheesy and cliched. If the tone had been darker, more serious, and more somber... and directed with more craft and precision, I think this could have been something great. If one is interested in watching this film, one should go see it. It's not as egregious as most critics claim.
