While it may look like a fairy tale of sorts on the outside there is an underlying darkness throughout, loneliness, love, belonging and a sense of staying true to yourself are just some of the themes explored. Amy Adams shines as usual bring her passion to the screen, reminded me a lot of her Enchanted role, she and veteran Frances McDormand makes an amazing on screen team playing off each other making their scenes a joy to watch. Films like these are usually swept under the rug and forgotten in favor of a more serious affair, but if they were that easy to make everyone would be doing it.
