What a difference five years makes. Back when I was young, stupid and apparently had ADD , I watched this movie and really disliked it. Now that I am older and less stupid I could finally appreciate the spectacle. I cannot even begin to imagine how they pulled off visuals of such flawlessness and grace in the 60s when today much simpler attempts at times look fake. Everything came together with the precision of a finely crafted puzzle, the score and the beautiful scenery are the main focus here, so much so that I would say they are the main characters. It's a movie that relies on total immersion from these two points as opposed to dialog and human interaction. A ballsy move that I imagine alienated a lot of viewers who found it difficult to connect, but rewarded those who could.
