Enter a cool idea, have a midnight news show go on a ride with firefighters, get stuck in a building with zombies. Much in the spirit of Diary Of The Dead with the exception of the allusions and social commentary being explained in a running voice over. Instead, take Dawn Of The Dead and instead of a mall put it in a small apartment building. This is what ultimately pushes the movie from mediocrity into memorability. The claustrophobic environment elevates the tension up a notch and believable characters another. I have always maintained how much I like movies filmed with one hand held camera, but in this instance at times it seemed to get away from the director. In some of the faster paced action scenes you could see a little stiffness from the actors as they waited to be hit or were slow to respond. This is understandable as after an eight minute take the last you need is to keep doing it over. But nevertheless it was always there to remind you that you were watching a movie which is the opposite effect they were trying to portray.
