I knew what to expect going in and got a little bit more, the way the plot unfolded was surprising and welcome. R rated action movies are always welcome in my book as they don't seem like desperate money grabs, yes I'm looking at you Terminator 4. The action scenes were over the top and awesome, and who doesn't like a good sword fight with guns? James McAvoy is destined for great things with a great performance that I'm not used to seeing in movies like this. Bekmambetov teeters dangerously into Tony Scott territory without falling in, he can't keep a shot simple and must move camera all the time, all he's missing is the filters. A good time with a bit of plot thrown in and a nice performance by the lead.
