I think that in order to truly understand this film is to live in the time that it was created. The year was 1972 and the Vietnam War was coming to a close with a lot of political tension in the country. Not a big difference from today. Think of the controversy of Sicko today(don't like the premise of that film) and take that back to the 70's. It was controversial to say the least. Hell disco wasn't even around yet and penetration in Penthouse was 3 decades away. Come on Alex, it was ahead of it's time.
BTW M.A.S.H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital
