Jean Grey has always been a good, buttoned-down, professional woman, secure in her normative marriage and teaching job. But when catastrophe unleashes the wild, hungry, sexual side of her nature, the entire world is threatened by her power.
Can the civilizing influence of Professor X tame and control her? Will the feral manliness of Wolverine prove her match? Or is she, as Magneto tells her, perfect?
Oh, yes -- this is also a movie about super powers, the social impulse to "cure" abnormalities, and the rhetoric of control. X3 scores points for confronting authority -- and loses them for assimulating with the National Symbolic and participating in a patriotic paramnesia.
