This man could have easily been Nazarin's cousin. Although, Bresson (oposite to Buñuel) truly loves his religion and really loves to put that in images on the screen. This one is a truly emotional movie (a lot to say considering is probably the coldest director I've ever seen) This one is a good start into this so much hated/loved director.

i think that maybe nazarin ripped off diary of a country priest a little. Bresson is really good. I love Bunuel though, but Bresson was the original. i love them both tho.
