Three extremes.

Takeshi Kitano has the aesthetic touch of the best japaneses filmmakers. He directs the actors correctly, writes like gods and has a great eye achieving good, solid films.

Dolls is about love.

Love, in spanish, is "amor". When you say in spanish the "I love you" (Te amo) you say probably the most powerful word ever. Because, amor is not "love".
I'll explain.
In english, you'll understand the "I love you" by the context. If a father says to his child "I love you", he wont understand the he wants to marry him.
But, if a guy says to his girlfriend "I love you". She'll know he's the one. She'll know that "I love you" is *the* phrase she was looking for. It has not the same emotive charge than the other example.

Well, in spanish is different. You don't need a context to understand when you say "Te amo" (literally, "I love you) because there are different words for each case. The other one is "Te quiero" (literally, "I want/wish you", wich is not the actual meaning in spanish)
A father can say to his son "Te quiero" and to her wife, "Te amo". Of course he can say "Te amo" too, but it doesn't have the same emotional charge than it would have by saying it to his wife.

We could be discussing and talking about what is love, the meaning of the word... whatever you want, by hours, by days. Is not actually an endless issue?

Kitano takes this wonderful, delicate subject, wich is the romantic love, and makes one of the most wonderful and powerful love stories ever. Not only with an overwhelming score, perfect acting and incredible script, but also with visuals, that wont never leave your mind.
