Terrific film by the master Chaplin. The old fanishioned way of filmming violence (not showing too much) is wonderful. You can see here a very violent movie. It's weird to see Chaplin, that tender man that is touched by a poor girl, a blind or an small boy, here takes all his extreme customes of hilarious situations to the edge and developes a dark story. The script is perfect. Nothing less could be expected from an "idea" by Welles. So, sit and prepare yourself for weird journey into the mind of a desperate serial killer. The only thing I complain a bit is the final intent of making a "moral" ending. It is not too weak, but not strong enough for making a top 20 worthy material. Still, a masterpiece.
