Overly long and no rooting interest

This movie should be good but it is not. I really like crime thrillers but this did not thrill me. First of all it was far too long. There were many scenes that were fairly unimportant or not made clear why they were important. Another major problem was in a film like this it is generally favorable for you to root for someone and want another person taken down. This is not the case in this. Both leads are well played but you do not really like or dislike either of the characters making it unimportant to you of who will win. That is why this does not work. This also is a film clearly made in the nineties nor necessarily a flaw but just something that sticks out.
