Among the best movies of 2010, The King's Speech is a true display of artistic film making at it's finest. While the story is an admittedly old one and you occasionally feel the "Oscar-Whore" premise, it can't be denied that it is an excellent movie on its own regard. The true power of The King's Speech is in it's gorgeous set design, astonishing cinematography, and utterly flawless acting from the entire cast. Despite the seemingly boring premise, there is not a dull moment in the entire 2 hour run time. It is swiftly paced with witty touches of humor that lighten the feel of the heavily dramatic film that it can be. Kudos to Colin Firth especially for turning in the best acting performance I've seen since maybe Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. Every aspect of King George's persona is replicated perfectly: the stammer, the voice, and even the slight lisp. This is not to take away from the brilliance of Geoffrey Rush's performance as his unconventional speech coach. To prevent this from being too wordy, I will simply say this, it is a well-told and perfectly structured drama that is worth your while.
