A disturbingly turbulent, emotional roller coaster of a film, 'As it is in Heaven' takes a trite and almost inconsolably fluffy premise and redecorates it with nihilistic Bergman furnishings. Even the sentimental bits have a grittiness about them. The result is authentic, tear jerking drama, with a formidably heartwarming ending.
