Stupid. Oh, so very, very, VERY stupid. Yet at the core of this film are some tender performances by greats such as Olivia de Havilland, Fred MacMurray, and Henry Fonda, lending it a sense of pathos that is thoroughly undeserved but nevertheless present. Plus, I'm scared to death of bees, so that worked to the film's advantage.
It's also hilarious. Extremely hilarious. Bees cause Chernobyl at one point. I love it.
