I came away from this film both having a crush on Evan Richards and never wanting to have sex again, so this film did leave something of an impact. It's special effects work is legendary for very, VERY good reason. I can't say I was impressed by much else that the film had to offer, especially not that diabolically terrible synth rendition of Strauss II's Blue Danube waltz. The generally bad acting and 80s kitsch also hurt my immersion into what could have been a great bit of Lovecraftian suburban, sun-drenched paranoia, but really it was the waltz that sunk the experience.
Still fun and topical, though. After all, despite our best efforts we STILL live in a society.
