A twisty, trippy, mind-bending mystery-thriller. Mike Flanagan's follow up to ABSENTIA features an admirable use of creepy dread over cheap jump scares and empty gore. Featuring solid performances and brilliant editing, Oculus is a refreshing horror film that may disappoint main stream audiences looking for a straight forward supernatural horror picture. Though it certainly has its fair share of dread.
