They Came Together

She came, he came, they all came!

With the parody sub-genre of comedy films having gone into the depths of the cinematic gutter, thanks to the atrocious co-directors (which is really an insult to directors to even call them that) in Adam Seltzer and Jason Friedberg. There has not been one praise worthy release of its kind in years. But finally the streak ends with the double entendre titled They Came Together. Directed by David Wain, who made one of the best, most hilarious, cult classics of them all with Wet Hot American Summer. This time taking on just about every romantic comedy cliche there is, the film has more hits than misses and some truly hilarious sequences. Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd also have a great chemistry that elevates the proceedings even higher. And while it still may not be as consistently funny as the aforementioned Wet Hot American Summer, They Came Together sure comes close. Filled with sight gags, hilarious absurdity, and comedy both subtle and broad, They Came Together is certainly one of the top comedies of the year.
