Kick-Ass review

It starts with a geek who is fascinated with superheroes, and wants to make a difference. He stumbled into an accident that made him irresistible to pain. Hit girl is a preteen who is very skilled with blades and martial arts. Her father that looks like the masked vigilante we all know has a lot of angst. I had second thoughts about watching this movie since it looked cartoonish or another superhero flop. The first few scenes were okay since your trying to get to know the characters. Kick Ass was discovered thru a video recorded from a cellphone. The main villains are nasty, the cars are as cool as Fast and the Furious, the costumes well thought of. The plot is reasonable; my only critic would be the way it was shot. It felt it was like a huge video-game (ala Green Lantern filming). The action was there, even the sense of humor. Not much sympathy though with the main figure until he gets broken bones/bloodied all over. Nicolas Cage still looks like a hero despite his vigilante scenes. I felt they should have picked a better actor that really looked pissed. It was fun to watch with a few morale lessons. Besides, there is nothing wrong with a film about being a hero without superpowers, helping others and respecting each person’s individualism. Overall, it was fun, it would have been dull without the scene stealer: Hit-Girl!
