A film about Earth’s condition because of a dying Sun. The crews of Icarus II make valuable decisions that would either hamper their mission or save a few lives from Icarus I. Its features inside Icarus II are enough to keep the viewers entertained. The talented international cast brings the realism to this smart science fiction/drama/thriller of a picture. Cillian Murphy (the physicist Robert Capa) can really hold his own; Michelle Yeoh was delightful as Corazon (the biologist), Chris Evans as Mace (the engineer) and many more. Some minor blemishes come to mind like the character of Mark Strong, Pinbacker, who was burned due to numerous exposures to the Sun. Right from that point, the realism was gone. The abrupt ending didn’t work well for me either. So much emphasis was placed in the characters, mission, and ship then suddenly it just ends hastily. Its film score was effective to make it thrilling. The special effects used for the Sun and the massively sophisticated ship they were using to save Earth were stunningly appealing. Not one of the sci-fi classics, still it was entertaining and visually graceful.
