Sometimes being a DC guy, you tend to become biased in terms of watching marvel related flicks. Yeah I like Hulk and Spiderman, that’s it. I’ve seen X-Men2 and 3, and have tried viewing First Class to see their “history.” I was not disappointed, the story was engaging from the very beginning with Charles Xavier, Raven and Erik Lensherr. The character back-story was well thought of, the cast was efficient enough to deliver the lines and pace of the film was just right. Injecting historical footage of Reagan and the “nuclear war scare” was a plus for me. The only minor blotch I noticed was the effects and some characters. When Banshee flies, you definitely notice it is unrealistic. Some characters were decent like Havoc, but Cyclops was just cooler. You have the adroit blue Beast, but the toughness and cockiness of Wolverine was missing. You kind of miss the tremendous powers of Storm, which was displayed in the sequels. Other than those which I felt was not present, the acting, theme (friendship, individualism and gaining power).

Some notable quotes from the film: Charles Xavier – “There's so much more to you than you know not just pain and anger. There's good in you too, and you can harness all that.” “We have it in us to be the better man.” The final scene reminded me of Revenge of the Siths Vader transformation, where Magneto recruits Emma Frost in the end. X-Men First class was able to effectively convey the story without any dreary parts, you can absorb something from it while relishing the abilities of each mutant, and they’re certainly proud of it. They should be, it was that good anyways.
