Shaun of the Dead review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 09/08/11
The story of Shaun (Simon Pegg) is a 29-year-old salesman whose life is falling apart because of a break-up between Liz (Kate Ashfield), a stressful relationship with Pete (Peter Serafinowicz) and a routine job with unruly staffs. Shaun spends his time to unwind with his good friend Ed (Nick Frost). Suddenly, people turn into zombies when they die and are seen on the news. Shaun makes an effort to save his ex., mother and friends David (Dylan Moran) and Dianne (Lucy Davis) and Ed. Some noteworthy quotes from the film: Liz – “You promised things would change.” Shaun – “I do not find it hard to keep my social life and my work life separate.” The pace of the story in the beginning was a bit dull. Some scenes were frightening and hilarious. Soundtrack incorporated on the film was cleverly executed. The character of Ed was likable and Pegg did a splendid job balancing the dramatic and comedic moments. A movie that has a refreshing take on horror comedies with a few themes of survival, friendship and sacrifices. Shaun of the Dead really brought out the life from the dead.
