Starship Troopers review

John "Johnny" Rico (Casper Van Dien}, his girlfriend Carmen Ibanez (Denise Richards) and best friend Carl Jenkins (Neil Patrick Harris) attend high school in Buenos Aires. Fellow student Dizzy Flores (Dina Meyer) is in love with Rico. Carl, having psychic powers, is assigned Military Intelligence for scientific research on the Bugs. Sergeant Zim (Clancy Brown) is in charge of the Mobile Infantry training.

The dark comedy scenes were hilarious but the dull screenplay and lack of a better character build-up just ruins the film. Some good lines from the film: Jean Rasczak – “Figuring things out for yourself is practically the only freedom anyone really has nowadays. Use that freedom.” “Never pass up a good thing.” It was preposterous in some ways when it comes to how cheap human lives were depicted. Special effects and score were top notch, action is non-stop and set locations were good. Starship Troopers is a decent science fiction film of violence, war and humanity.
