Deja Vu (2006) review

Special Agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) is sent to investigate an explosion and discovers evidence that the attack was a bombing committed by a domestic terrorist. He meets-up with FBI Special Agent Paul Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer). Paul encourages Doug to join a team with Dr. Alexander Denny (Adam Goldberg), to investigate the events leading up to the explosion by using a new program called "Snow White", which enables them to look into the past (4 days, 6 hours, 3 minutes, 45 seconds, 14.5 nanoseconds) in detail. "Snow White" is actually a time window, and is also capable of sending inanimate objects into the past.
The pace of the film was smooth, soundtrack was nice and performances was sincere. Its premise was interesting very much like Source Code. Doug Carlin is a likable character who has heart and heroism. Carroll Oerstadt, who is angry at the U.S. government, is a worthy antagonist. The visual effects used were believable. Its screenplay, set-pieces and performances were efficient with lines from Doug - "What if you had to tell someone the most important thing in the world, but you knew they'd never believe you?" and "For all of my career, I've been trying to catch people after they do something horrible. For once in my life, I'd like to catch somebody before they do something horrible." Deja Vu was entertaining from beginning to end, a wonderful sci-fi that is worth viewing.
