An adventure mixed with drama and humor. A classic that heavily influenced Paul Thomas Anderson to write There Will Be Blood. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Curtin (Tim Holt) and Howard (Walter Huston) search for gold in the Sierra Madre mountains. Locations were well picked. Bogart and Huston were just fascinating in their roles. Cinematography, direction, endearing score and pace of the storytelling excellent. Screenplay was superb with lines: Howard - "Anything can happen." Curtin - I'd fight for you and yours just as I'd fight for the old man." Dobbs - "Conscience. What a thing. If you've got a conscience it will pester you to death." and the famous line from the Bandit leader - " "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!" So many electrifying/memorable scenes such as the confrontation of Dobbs and Curtin, Howard being fed before discovering the injured Curtin, first contact with the bandits and more. The Treasure of Sierra Madre boasts of great character development which touches on human relationships dealing with temptation, greed, trust, distrust, taking problems in stride and honor.
