My Wife is a Gangster review

Definitely funnier and more action-packed than Kung-Fu Hustle with some realistic drama and moral lessons along the way. Cha Eun-jin was separated from her older sister Yu-jin as kids. Kang Su-il tries to protect Cha Eun-jin but accidentally gets hit on the head by a brick. Yu-jin gets ill with cancer and wishes for her sister to get married and have kids. Some great lines: Yu-jin - "Don't swear. Don't fight. Think happy thoughts." Themes of gaining respect, marriage, trust, having a good heart, loyalty and fate were evident. Eun-Kyung Shin brought in the laughs, sensitivity of losing a sister and fight sequences that is at par with Kill-Bill. Sang-Myeon Park provided the laughs and authenticity of being a good husband. Pace of the film coupled with the soundtrack, direction and wardrobe were flawless. This flick was surprisingly funny from start to finish with touches of really nice short stories from the background characters. Not everybody may enjoy My Wife is a Gangster due to some plot twists, unbelievable Crouching like fighting, but this rater definitely enjoyed the story mixed with solid drama and comedic laugh out loud sequences.
