Goon review

Based on the book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith. Not entirely a hockey flick, it hints more than the sport. Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) is a bouncer at a bar in Massachusetts who was given a chance to tryout for the Halifax Highlanders. He meets a hockey fanatic named Eva (Alison Pill). Soundtrack and pace was perfect while the performances earnest. Seann William Scott finally has a role tailor fit for him. Humor was effective and additional live footage's of Doug "The Hammer" Smith was a nice touch (so stick until the credits totally end). Best line on the film from Doug - "When you deserve a beating, you take it." Even the special features (interviews, fighting 101, goalie audition, power play clips, etc.) were entertaining and funny. Only reservations this reviewer had were some coy/overly stupid dialogues and more likable characters. Goon is about gaining new friendships, individuality, brotherhood, overcoming odds, finding your nitch in life, team work, and love.
