Moonrise Kingdom review

Philosophical, colorfully gorgeous, funny, excellently casted, and dark all in one mix. Brilliant direction, splendid soundtrack, lush cinematography, spectacular performances and an enticing screenplay makes this one of the best of the year and from the director. It starts off with a missing skilled Khaki Scout named Sam Shakusky (Jared Gilman) who meets-up with temperamental Suzy Bishop (Kara Hayward). Scout Master Ward (Edward Norton) informs Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis) while the parents of Suzy, Walt (Bill Murray) and Laura (Frances McDormand), worry about their daughter. So many stories interwoven masterfully with comical moments. The kids were sincere and believable which makes the film more endearing.

The movie has bountiful quotable and insightful lines: Captain Sharp - "It's been proven by history: all mankind makes mistakes." "It takes time to figure things out." Ward - "Let's hope tomorrow's better." Sam - "Sometimes people do things without knowing the reasons for..." " I know your parents hurt your feelings, but they still love you. That is more important..." Becky - "Why are we here?" Moonrise Kingdom exemplifies kids maturing too fast, surviving life's struggles, questions, human behavior, youths reckless naivety, infidelity, parenting, love, bravery (Ward), optimism (Laura), pessimism (Walt) and hope (Sharp).
