Husbands and Wives review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 11/08/12
"Maybe in the end, the idea was not to expect too much out of life." - Gabe. Smart script, poorly executed film with a popular theme of marriage and infidelities. A story of two couples namely Jack (Pollack) and Sally (Davis), and Gabe (Allen) and Judy (Farrow). Soundtrack almost non existent, the documentary style of shooting was dizzying when doing close-ups and acting just felt rehearsed. Its only good point was the screenplay with lines: Judy - "Change is what life is made of! Change - if you don't change, you don't grow, you just shrivel up!" Sally - "You're great 'til you start to show your age - then they want a newer model." Husbands and Wives seems to intellectual and scripted to be entertaining and realistic. It doesn't show whether its a documentary, drama or comedy, which clearly lacks humor.
