Get Carter (1971) review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 11/17/12
One of the popular British flicks of the 70's. Gangster Jack Carter (Michael Caine) tries to avenge his brothers supposed accidental death. Soundtrack, direction and pace was just grueling in the perception of this reviewer. Some shots were fillers, which eventually slows the story while the love scenes a bit obscene/overlong. Despite some stylish direction and violence, some better editing could have been utilized. The action brutal for its era and Caine was very convincing. Plot was fresh and the conclusion was fitting for such a figure. Soundtrack was fair and support average in their portrayals. Overall, an influential brutal gritty action flick that is emulated by current directors with themes of vengeance, gangsters and violence.
