The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 review

Though admittedly not a fan, it's nice to follow the story and see how this one would fair. This was surprisingly good, a huge departure from the other films...almost. You get the usual cheesy scenes with the newlyweds as Bella Cullen (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and top exposure of Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) just to prove a point to Charlie Swan (Billy Burke). Love scenes tend to drag and the power of the other vampires felt like viewing an X-Men flick. Score was the same and soundtrack provided not enough impact in most scenes and one gets the feeling of a music video. Now the positive aspects: cinematography, visual effects, darker mood, meaningful metaphors which makes the screenplay immensely better and relentless action with a small twist that was a nice touch to keep things interesting. Humor was more effective than the previous installments and violence more dreary. Benjamin (Rami Malek) was probably the best new character involved while Bella's has evolved from the very start of the movie. Even the themes go deeper such as the detrimental effects of technology (emulating Cronenberg?), meaningful things to fight for, love and family. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 may not be the best vampire flick, it is however the best from the Twilight saga and finally a real treat that can be enjoyed and can finally be called a real film.
