Dumb fun with subliminal messages about work and loyalty. Willard (Norm MacDonald) is a loyal and competent chauffeur of Mrs. Crock (Elaine Stritch), a wealthy, thrifty and mean business-woman who owns a posh mansion. Rusty (Dave Chappelle) is a chicken restaurant owner who discusses with his friend norm about kidnapping the dog of Mrs. Crock for ransom. Grover (Danny DeVito), a morgue employee, is approached by the pair to connive on the scheme. The idea of kidnapping a dog for ransom, 2 kids mugging an adult with a suitcase, hitting somebody with a lamp when scared and assaulting an officer may seem too much, it's still hilarious in a way. MacDonald was fit for the role and Chappelle provides fair support. The twists were a nice touch and DeVito's strange and creepy character kind of worked in the end. Overall, the cast adn screenplay works, though proper soundtrack and improved/believable direction could have made this into a cult classic. Screwed may not be the best comedy in terms of kidnapping and betrayal, it was however funny with lessons of enjoying one's job and treating your employer/employee as a human being.
