Topaz review

It may please other movie critics, but not for this reviewer who felt the plot too confusing and lacked a better lead. The direction was over the place the the color and score were alright. The fusion of James Bond like gadgets and espionage just didn't feel right. It's concept of the existence of a Soviet spy organization called "Topaz" within the French intelligence service may have been interesting, but sadly poorly executed. So many "talkies" moments. Just not entertained with this particular effort which even lacks the trademark humor and aura of great storytelling that we all love from the "Master of Suspense." Worth seeing if your a Hitchcock fanatic. Topaz could have been way better with improved writing and casting, which could have involved a certain Sean Connery.
