I Vitelloni review

"Leave it to fate." - Married woman in the theater. This is one the smartest drama comedies that this reviewer has seen. The story revolves around Fausto and Sandra Rubini (Leonora Ruffo). Fausto (Franco Fabrizi) gets married to Sandra because of his father. Leopoldo works on a play. The serious reflective Moraldo walks on empty streets. Alberto knows a secret from his sister Olga. Fausto then fancies Giulia Curti (Lída Baarová), the wife's boss. The pace, characterization and screenplay were impressive. The luscious score adds to the mood of each vital scene. "People promise a lot of things." - Sandra "Try to be sensible..." - Olga. "We're not bored. Because we really love each other." - Michele Curti (Carlo Romano). "They only care about material things." - Leopoldo. The mixture of drama and humor were perfection. I Vitelloni represents provincial life, ambition, infidelities, fate, friendship, temptations, marriage, seeking a path, change, discipline and risks. This is one of the director's most provocative films that isn't as popular as a La Strada or a La Dolce Vita, it still manages to bring in the morality related messages.
