I Live in Fear review

How would you react if there was a nuclear threat? This movie show possibilities of the adverse effects. The story revlves around Kiichi Nakajima (Toshirō Mifune) and Dr. Harada (Takashi Shimura) andthe H-bomb. Lacks the certain fear element to the H-bomb predictions and needed much character development for the two leads. Soundtrack was applicabl eto the film's mood and direction was solid. Loaded with dialogue zingers like: "Life's full of disputes and bashing each other's heads solves nothing." "Don't ypu realize life is the most precious thing?" "Of course life is precious, but everybody has to die sooner or later." "You can be so selfish." and "It's a lviing hell." I Live in Fear however lacks that certain spark to make it truly a touching drama especially coming from the director. Still, it is worth viewing for Kurosawa fanatics, apocalyptic themed and those who enjoy a drama that touches on guilt, family discord, and value of a life.
