G.I. Joe Retaliation review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 07/06/13
Poor Paris, London, and other countries involved in the film. Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) impersonates the President and his reason was "Everybody wants to rule the world." Duke (Channing Tatum), Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Flint (D.J. Cotrona) and Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki) were attacked after a mission by the "new" President. Snake Eyes (Ray Park) gets detained but unfortunately it really is Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee). As a kid growing-up with the toys and cartoons, its just disheartening to add new characters not in the series such as Moue, Firefly, Jinx, the Blind Master (RZA), Gen. Colton and massacring Lady Jane's name to Jaye. It was hilarious having RZA train Snake-Eyes, Firefly still being able to ride a motorcycle after being bumped by a huge vehicle and how easily the Joes infiltrated the White house without being detected. Better than the first since it had more action but just lacks that certain logic in most scenes and plot. Furthermore, the killed Duke and Zartan, both staples in the G.I. Joe franchise. Just preposterous in so many aspects. G.I. Joe’s franchise just continues its mediocrity and casting artists who can’t act and writers just to fill the screen with heavily utilized special effects and pop-corn hand to hand combat just to please action buffs. Gave this a much higher rating since Bruce Willis was here, had more action and some involvement with Cobra Commander. They really need to improve the writing and get better artists next time.
