A drama that focuses on the father and son relationship of the Whipple's (Henry played by Dennis Quaid and Dean by Zac Efron). The female support was average since their roles were pretty minor, We get a solid performance from Quaid and an earnest portrayal from Efron. Cinematography was gorgeous but the direction/screenplay seems scattered. A mentioned by a fellow member, it gets darker and darker. Highlights were the accidental death (which for this critic marked the wake-up call for them to get closer to each other) and race of Dean. The rest seems to lack certain intensity and likability. It's conclusion seems fitting but left you wanting for more. Overall, a worthy view for those who would like to learn about the intricacies of farming, family, trust and a conflicting father and son relationship who have similar flaws. The director certainly has potential.
