Star Trek Into Darkness review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 08/30/13
It starts with Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) saving a planet. In London, there was a bomb that killed a number of people so a manhunt ensues for John Harrison/Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). The ability to create tension, comic relief, fantastic plot, screenplay skillful camera direction and visual effects were the picture's highlights. Some insightful lines: “You think you can't make a mistake!" - Admiral Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood), "You didn't feel anything. You don't care." - Uhura (Zoe Saldana). "Is there anything you wouldn't do for your family?" – Khan and “It’s nice to have a family.” - Dr. Carol Wallace (Alice Eve). Action sequences were fantastic and the director does a great job with helping the audiences be involved with the characters coupled with slight symbolisms of love (Uhura), feelings (Spock), friendship and transformation/change (Kirk). A solid sci-fi no nonsense film from the future director of Star Wars Episode VII. As a self-confessed Star Wars fanatic, the franchise is in good hands.
