Hours review

Finally got around to view this simple yet enigmatic film from the late Paul Walker. The plot is simple, Nolan (Walker) gets trapped in a hospital with his new born daughter and tries to survive various obstacles due to the detrimental effects Hurricane Katrina. This definitely worked not because of its realism, a well-acted dog and the myriad of tense filled situations, but the authenticity of Walker's performance. Some low points that prolong the film were the flashbacks (which in this critics opinion, should have been from the beginning of the film showed the history of their relationship). Still, if you were the viewer and imagine being in his shoes, it would be very difficult and strenuous. Its messages of deep love, survival, how people succumb to be selfish in dire moments and true fatherhood were definitely present. Hours is definitely one of the underrated pictures that not too many have seen and is worth a shot especially for new parents/fathers.
