I don't consider it one of Miyazaki's most magnificent features, but it is one that's full of the themes and traits he has made signatures in the decades since.

This is one of my favorite Mizaki films and one of his most inventive and original. The beauty of the animation is mirrored by the emotion and themes within. This is a film that speaks volumes about the responsibility of human consumption of nature, long before films like Pocahontas and Avatar, and in a much more meaningful manner.

Hayao Miyazaki's first original animated film is a masterpiece. Like his later films, themes of nature and war are prevalent. One of those films every family should watch together.
