The northern-most city in the United States, Barrow, Alaska is about to shut down for 30 days of darkness. Only a small group of citizens braves the cold and isolation, but they're about to be joined by a tribe of vampires who don't plan on leaving any survivors. This movie is scary and gory with awesome senses mix with it.

Danny Huston's electrifying performance is clearly the highlight, though both Josh Hartnett and Melissa George are quite effective.

A small town in Alaska endures a whole month of darkness every year. Only this year will be different. A pack of vampires has descended upon the town to feed and to leave no trace of what happened. It`s as if they`ve done this before. A select few of the townfolk realize what`s happening and devise a plan to just survive the onslaught. Stay alive until the sun comes back. A twisted ending that will leave you stunned.

Vampires killing humans in an isolated town. It's simple and effective thanks to the direction and great f/x work. The blend of practical and CG f/x is seamless. Should satisfy most people looking for this type of horror.

The concept and the overall atmosphere of the film is intriguing, but the execution is poor. The dialogue and some of of the plot points at times dip the film into B-movie territory and the high concept premise quickly devolves into schlocky action sequences and an unsatisfying, silly climax.

One of the better Vampire-themed movies I've seen. The setting was different.

Great film entertaining wise, but could have been made a lot better. Better casting and make up for sure.

An adequate horror film that lets its monsters act like monsters and gives us an original setting and premise and carries it through most of the way; by the end, it's become a bit tiresome, the editing gets lazy (I believe one character that dies is seen once again in the street at the end) and Hartnett does something pretty arbitrary that's hard to find much sympathy for (an ending taken directly from Blade II). Final Grade: B-

The flick's got a great hook, but the execution has serious flaws. Nevertheless, worth brooding on in the dark, if the end of mankind is your thing.
